The branch line of Sagami line,JNR,1984.
The memories by snaps of Masaki Yatake
Sagami line connects between Chigasaki and Hashimoto, in Kanagawa prefecture. Now it has been electrified and has changed to commuter line which has newest electric trains. An age ago it was one of the best local line which was similar to Hachiko line in the metropolitan area. The branch line which had been called Nishi-samukawa line had connected between Samukawa and Nishi-samukawa. Samukawa is in the middle of Sagami line and Nishi-samukawa is near Sagamigawa river. The trains had plied a few times from Chigasaki on a day. The branch line had have 1.5km distance, and had been single track, had not been electrified. It was abolished on Mar 31st,1984. I have visited on Mar 30th,1984. It is the day before abolishment.

This is the information board at the Sagami line's platform, in Chigasaki station. It tells that Sagami line (between Samukawa and NIshi-samukawa)will be abolished on March 31st,1984. Also indicated below that the commemorative ticket with the name of Nishi-samukawa station will be sold. |
The train(series ki-ha35 diesel car, commuter type car) is at Sagami line's platform in Chigasaki station. There is Tokaido line's platform on the left side. |

The train had arrived at NIshi-samukawa station. It had been unattended simple station which hadn't had booking office and had had only one narrow platform. The rail fans had been absorbed in photographing. So it had been a day before abolishment. |
The name board of Nishi-samukawa station which had been made privately. Had it been made by the neighbor or the fan? The letters indeed had been handmade and also the maker's name had been written near by!! |

In the same way, there had been the station name board on the electric-light pole. |
